About Us
Yeovil Child Health Services are provided from Yeovil District Hospital and include inpatient, outpatient and community services for children and young adults from birth to 18 years of age.
The ward and clinic areas on level 10 of Yeovil District Hospital have been designed to provide both a child and family-friendly environment to reduce the stress facing families during short, medium and longer term visits to the unit.
The ward area has a dedicated cancer care suite which has been designed to support the needs of the children undergoing cancer-related treatments.
By Rail
Yeovil is served by two Railway Stations:
Yeovil Pen Mill – trains from Weymouth, Dorchester, Castle Cary, Westbury, Bath and Bristol – approximately 1.5 miles from the Hospital.
Yeovil Junction – trains from Exeter, Crewkerne, Sherborne, Salisbury and London Waterloo. Approximately 3 miles from the Hospital.
By Bus
First Bus Route 1 calls outside the hospital at 15-minute intervals for most of the day.
Parking
Our multi-storey car park is situated opposite the hospital’s main reception and provides 650 spaces for patients, visitors and staff. Stairs and lifts are available from all floors. The car park is barrier-controlled and uses a pay-on-exit system
Parking discounts
Some patients and visitors are eligible for exemption from parking charges including Blue badge holders and parents of children (under 18) staying overnight on the children’s ward between the hours of 7.30pm and 8am. Speak to a member of staff in the department you are visiting to obtain a concession slip.
Discounted parking is available for visitors and patients using the car park for extended periods. Please see parking information for more details.

Out of hospital accommodation
Yeovil District Hospital has a flat with three double rooms and one twin room available for hire to relatives and friends of patients. The accommodation is located opposite the hospital. Please speak to the Ward staff for further information.
We have a dedicated parents' room in the unit to allow parents to have quiet time away from the ward. There are no children allowed in this room. Facilities are available for parents to make a hot and cold drinks, a fridge to store food and a microwave to heat up any food. Free WiFi is available.
The department has a range of activities to help in the education and development of the children. These include, during term time, a school. Yeovil also has a wide range of visiting medical teams who support the care of children as close to home as possible. We have excellent links with local Social Services and education organisations.
